GUTTER CLEANING & REPAIRS.
GUTTER COVER INSULATION.
Many homeowners don’t think about their home gutter system until their gutters stop working properly. Don't neglect the importance of gutter and downspout cleaning. It will help you avoid any costly future repairs for years to come. It doesn’t take long for improperly working or clogged gutters to show wear and tear on your home and devalue your investment. A leak that goes unfixed can cause major damage to the exterior of your home and even the gutter itself. A leak can cause mold and rotting, leading to the gutter giving away and falling from your roof.
Rotted Wood: When gutters have debris piled up above the flashing or shingle line, the debris can hold moisture on the fascia board. The moisture can also affect the roof sheathing and framing beyond the fascia & soffit. Some homes have foundations made from wood. Without a gutter for the water to drain properly into, the water will accumulate and saturate into the house. Over time the wood will rot, causing possible foundation damage and issues with your home's structure.
Animals and Wood Destroying Insects: Lack of cleaning will also cause water to pond in areas dammed by debris. This condition is ideal for Nasty critters like, squirrels, raccoons, rats, carpenter ants, roaches, earwigs, mosquitoes and even termites are likely to cause an infestation in a non-maintained gutter and will make a home in gutter debris.
Leaking Basements and Cracked Foundations: Clogged gutters are the number one cause of basement water problems. Most gutters drain toward the bottom exterior of the home. If they are not working properly or aren't cleaned, the excess water will collect around your basement and eventually leak in and excess water against the foundation can weaken the footings and lead to cracks. A leaking basement is one of the most hazardous possibilities, because it can result in a gas leak, electrical shock and pollutants in your home. Clogged gutters and downspouts can also cause driveway and walkways to sag and crack.
SOFFIT & FACSIA REPAIRS
A Fascia: Board attached to the ends of the rafters between the roofing material and the soffit overhang. Fascia cap is the covering around that board. Fascia boards rotted at the peaks of gabled roofs often are due to holes or cracks in the shingles immediately above. Shingle caps are laid over the sharp ends of the mitered fascia or trim boards, and the point of this joint often is higher than the end of the rafter and decking. Large holes may let water into the cornice area between the house and fascia board. Also, fascia boards can be damaged when shingles fail to direct water into gutters due to missing shingles or gutters that have pulled away from the house.
A Soffit: Is the underside of any element of a building. The most common soffit is found in the area under the eaves on the exterior of the house. The soffit extends from the side of the house to the edge of the eave and closes the space beneath the eave. The soffit is more vulnerable to weather damage than any other part of the house. Wet material rots, and a soffit can be repeatedly soaked by water from torn shingles, damaged or rusted flashing, ice dams, or poorly functioning gutters. Squirrels and birds can also damage a soffit, since they like to nest in the space in the space behind soffits if they can find a point of entry. Bees, hornets, and wasps do not actually damage a soffit, but when they build a nest behind a soffit, they present a problem for the homeowners.
